Background on California Statute Violated

Sam’s Chowder House Ladies’ Nights promotion may have violated California’s strong public policy to get rid of sex discrimination, as stated in the many California statutes that prohibit businesses from discriminating against patrons based on their sex. The frequent Ladies’ Nights promotions may have violated many California Civil Code sections, all of which prohibit California businesses from treating patrons unequally based on their sex.

Simply put, it is against many California laws for a business to discriminate against  patrons based on their sex or other personal characteristics, such as race or sexual orientation.
